There is no single best fix — you choose a strategy based on each competing page’s quality and value. The five options are: consolidate and merge weaker pages into one strong resource and 301-redirect the old URLs; de-optimize lesser pages when one is clearly the authority; canonicalize near-duplicate pages that must exist separately by pointing rel=”canonical” to the preferred URL; delete low-quality, outdated pages and 301-redirect them; and improve internal linking with keyword-rich anchors to the primary page. First identify the competing pages — for example, in Google Search Console open Performance, click a query, and switch to the Pages tab to see if several URLs rank for it.
